Elections were last held in May 2007.  There are 12 seats on the Alford Town Council, and in the May elections 13 people stood, 11 of which were the original council.  There was a vacancy at the time.
Of the original councillors, Jim Westall lost his seat.  New councillors welcomed on to the Town Council were Cllr Linda Morgan Anstee and Cllr Terry Patricia Monk.  

Since that time Cllr Monk resigned her seat and left the council, Cllr Farmer also resigned and Cllr Morgan Anstee left the area.  The vacancies were filled through co-option and the new councillors welcomed on board were
Cllr Paul Lane, Cllr Peter Milson and Cllr Christine Carey.  Cllr Lane has since resigned (Jan 09)  as has Cllr Carey (June 09) Cllr Milson is active in LIVES.  After many years service, Cllr John Johnson also resigned in the summer of 2009.  Cllr Henderson resigned in September, and Mr John Kelk co-opted to replace Cllr Carey. Cllr Sarah Lithgow was co-opted in July to replace Paul Lane.   Of the original councillors:
Cllr Allan is retired Head; Cllr Quantrell is a solicitor; Cllr Cooper semi retired Architect; Cllr Rawson is a chef; Cllr Devereux is self employed;  Cllr Hounslow manages a local firm,and Cllr Jarnell is an Estate Agent.
